Funeral Luncheon: A Time to Celebrate a Loved One’s Life

A funeral is a ceremony for celebrating a loved ones life. It is a way to honor his or her memory and to assist the survivors in dealing with the finality of life. The funeral rites are as old as human culture itself dating back hundreds of thousands of years.

In our culture, it is common to hold a luncheon or a wake. This custom allows those attending a funeral to get together in a time of fellowship and renewal. It allows people to relive past memories of the loved one in a less formal environment than the funeral home where the viewings occurred.

Woodrow Hall has been asked numerous times to host a luncheon or dinner for funeral attendees. We welcome these as we can offer a comfortable environment, a great place for a luncheon and plenty of parking spaces in an easy to get to location.

We also typically have few mid day and mid-week events so it is not difficult to arrange and set up for such a luncheon. In addition, we have a special meeting room, which we call The Magnolia Room that lends itself to a wake. It has its own food preparation area, a reception hall that can seat up to about 100 and tables and chairs that do not need linens. We have set this room up so it is affordable and can be made available with little notice.
