Birmingham Event Venue Offers a $6 Retirement Party Solution!

Given that the baby boomer population is now reaching retirement age, there are over 10,000 people retiring each day! That leads to a lot of retirement parties! How much does it cost for a retirement party? Basically about $6 per person (based on a minimum of 75 people) for a weeknight event. It is even less expensive per person as the numbers go up! In fact, you can have a weeknight retirement party in our newly opened Magnolia Room for as little as about $400! Weekends are about $10 per person (again based on 75 people)! We provide a restored upscale vintage banquet hall, tables, chairs, dance floor, PA system and candle holders, you provide the food and drink. We will even throw in chaffing warmers for keeping your food warm and coffee and ice tea making equipment!

If you want to figure out how much you will spend, you can use our list of costs. The costs can be sorted into just a few buckets. They include:

Venue Rental
This will be a large portion of your total retirement party cost. You can significantly reduce the cost of a venue rental if you hold the party on an “off night” such as a Sunday, or Monday through Thursday. Venues charge much more for Friday and Saturday nights. Ask about our exceptionally low weekday rental rates!

Since Woodrow Hall does not “force” people to buy our food, you can save a huge amount of money by having your own caterer or even asking attendees to bring in a “hot dish”. We can provide chafers and coffee and tea making machines as a part of the rental fee. This will reduce the cost of rentals as well as food costs making them virtually zero for the budgeting line! Woodrow Hall can provide food for a very low cost if you do choose to have us arrange for the food. Ask our Director for her advice!

Everyone wants at least a modicum of decorations. But, with a beautifully appointed venue, the need for decorations decreases significantly! Woodrow Hall has natural beauty. In the big ballroom (holds up to 350) we have exposed brick walls and silk drapes, colorful Up-Lights (you can set the color) to accent the space and large wooden beams accenting high ceilings. We also have a selection of centerpieces at a modest charge to save you even more money.

The Magnolia Room, a 1700 square foot ballroom able to seat 100 people, has similar tall ceilings, large wooden accents and beams and the same colorful Up-Lighting. But this floor is offered with little or no need to rent linens. The tables have been hand made from thick cuts of wood and do not need to be covered! For this ballroom we will also provide centerpieces at a very low cost.

If you have a friend who knows how to use an I-Pod or an I-Phone, you will not need to hire a DJ. If you wish to have a DJ, we can provide one at a very affordable price. Of course the most costly alternative is a live band.

Most retirement parties offer a cash bar, so this also becomes a zero cost line item also. Woodrow Hall can also create a Signature Drink that is very affordable!

The only other item you may choose to budget for are invitations, but since you can purchase a generic invitation for just pennies, or you can call, email your guests making this line item free!

So, there you have it. Basically 5 costs to budget for. And remember that if each guest pitches in less than the price of a dinner and a movie, bring in your own food, use our decorations and have a cash bar, you can hold a retirement party for virtually nothing!

Call Woodrow Hall at 205-243-4243 for a tour and for a free estimate on the use of either of our ballrooms.
